BEACH ACCESS

New Smyrna Beach has a unique combination of a driving and non-drive beach stretches. Driving on the beach in New Smyrna Beach has been a tradition for many years. Beachgoers can enjoy a leisurely drive and park right on the sand to enjoy all that the beach has to offer. Unless it is high tide, driving is permitted on the beach from 8:00am-7:00pm from May 1st through October 31st and from sunrise to sunset from November 1st through April 30th.

To ensure that everyone has a safe and relaxing day on the beach please abide by the following rules when driving on the beach:

  • Please drive carefully with your windows down and watch for pedestrians, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN AND WILDLIFE.
  • Observe the 10mph speed limit
  • Traffic lanes are marked with traffic lane signs.
  • Conservation zones are marked with aqua-painted poles, please park your car between the conservation zones and the traffic lanes. Do not park beyond the conservation poles.

Many enjoy New Smyrna’s car free beach, which allows those families with small children peace of mind and ultimate relaxation. The beach is protected from all traffic starting at the 27th Avenue beach access continuing south to the Canaveral National Seashore.

Off beach parking is enforced daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the City’s five beachfront parks. To avoid a fine, vehicles parked in the lots during these hours must have a New Smyrna Beach parking pass decal or must purchase a daily pass at the lot. New Smyrna Beach also offers two free parking options; Mary McLeod Bethune Park and the Hiles Blvd. Parking lot.

DRIVING ON THE BEACH

Visitors can drive right onto the beach offering easy access to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Beach driving is allowed from 27th Avenue beach access north. Here are some tips so you can enjoy a wonderful beach day.

  • Please drive carefully and watch for pedestrians, especially children.  Please make sure your windows are down.
  • Observe the 10 mph speed limit. Limit cruising on the beach, find a parking spot and enjoy your day.
  • Conservation zones are marked with aqua-painted poles.
  • Traffic lanes are marked with traffic lane signs. Park your vehicle between the conversation zone and the traffic lanes. Remember, double parking is not permitted.
  • Unless there are unusual high tides, driving is permitted on the beach from 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM from May 1st through October 31st. From sunrise to sunset from November 1st through April 30th
